Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are the heart of our mission. From preparing meals to hosting drives, every helping hand makes a difference for families with children receiving medical care. Find the opportunity that’s right for you and see the impact you can make today.

Make-A-Meal

Provide comfort and care by preparing a home-cooked meal for families staying with us. When families spend long days at the hospital, coming “home” to a warm meal makes a meaningful difference.

Meal groups can:

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner
  • Cater a meal from a local restaurant
  • Bring ready-to-serve pantry items and snacks

Meals can be prepared in our fully equipped House kitchens. All ingredients must be provided by volunteers, and menus must be confirmed in advance.

Please Note:

  • All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and due to kitchen space and safety considerations, group sizes are typically limited.
  • Tours must be scheduled in advance, and are not guaranteed for volunteer groups—especially for same-day requests.

Group Volunteers

Get your friends, colleagues, or family members together and volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio! Assist in exciting volunteer opportunities such as:

  • Fundraising event support
  • Volunteering for additional House projects
  • Coordinating a service group
  • Hosting a wish list drive
  • Hosting holiday parties

*A group is 2 or more volunteers

Please Note:

  • All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Tours must be scheduled in advance, and are not guaranteed for volunteer groups—especially for same-day requests.

Individual Volunteers

More than 1,300 volunteers give a helping hand to provide comfort for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House every year.

We are looking for assistance with:

  • Fundraising event support
  • Volunteer for additional House projects
  • Coordinate a service group
  • Host a wish list drive
  • Host holiday parties and activities for families

Please Note:

  • All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Youth Volunteering Guidelines

  • We are grateful for families and youth who want to serve together. To provide a safe and meaningful volunteer experience, please review the following guidelines:
  • While we do not have a specific age minimum, even young children and toddlers count toward the maximum number of volunteers allowed in a group.
  • All minors must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or school staff member at all times.
  • An 18-year-old student may not supervise younger students.
  • Only individuals 18 or older may volunteer independently.
  • All volunteers must remain actively engaged in their assigned activity and stay within the designated volunteer areas.
  • While we welcome families who choose to serve together, it can be difficult for little ones to stay focused when nearby play spaces are visible. We kindly ask volunteers not to use the playroom or playground during their visit so we can maintain proper sanitation for our guest families.
